Kaleidoscope VI ~ Sky

2025Laurence Fuller
Read Poem

SKY A gigantic sky, Which holds all the secrets of an eye. Broad and towering mountain tops, Rose and fell, And stretched into cosmos, Yet none could reach; The edge of sight. That trembling border; Where form dissolves. The volume of a universe; which whirled abandoned into time. A shell of light peeled back; To reveal the corridors within ~ Spirals, tunnels, ribbons of color, Not meant for mortal eyes. Yet there they were, Whirring, Whispering, Folding inward into mine. Nothing left of earth was near; Pleiades, Adelphi, And wondrous skies. For I, for all, Just ask one time; "What for? And where am I?" Bowing corridors of stars, Do make; An arc in the fabric of space. Like seeds; Hurled into the throat of the cosmos. Where we in specks of dust, Are thrust unto a pin-head. A ball of dew, And circling there within, Shrunken lives of small imaginings ~ The source of all; That is art and poetry. Understand in suffering, And in grandeur. The totality of the living, And the vastness of this galaxy, Where nothing really could be, Not king, Nor demon, But seer. For beauty believes, We all are Queen, And King. At the burning barriers, Of the orbit's fiery ring, Each granular a world within. The seeds that pulse; With awe. The endless empty rocks, In timeless abyss of nothingness ~ Do shift to the very core. To madness' molten red, Right at the bottom of ~ The World. A swirling spinning ball.
