The Morning Breeze
The Morning Breeze
Hafiz of Shiraz
The morning breeze brings word of the beloved;
The night wind carries the perfume of her hair.
Thou who art drunk with the wine of pride, beware:
This caravanserai of earth holdeth no one long.
O heart! go not to grieve upon the path of love;
For on this road the miles are made of sighs.
The tavern of the soul is ever open;
The cup of wine is poured for those with eyes.
Whosoever drinks of Love's pure wine
Becomes the master of a thousand worlds.
Ask not of Hafiz where the beloved dwells;
The beloved is here — within the seeker's heart.
