The Man of God
The Man of God
Jalal ad-Din Rumi
The man of God is drunken without wine,
The man of God is full without roast meat.
The man of God is distraught and bewildered,
The man of God has no food or sleep.
The man of God is a king beneath a dervish's cloak,
The man of God is a treasure in a ruin.
The man of God is neither of fire nor of water;
The man of God is neither of earth nor of air.
The man of God is a fathomless sea,
The man of God rains pearls without a cloud.
The man of God hath a hundred moons and skies,
The man of God hath a hundred suns.
Love is the remedy of our pride and self-conceit,
Love is the physician of our souls.
Where love is not, the garden is a prison;
Where love is, the prison is a garden.
